Drug Gives Rats Booze-Guzzling Superpowers

A drug extract from the seeds of the Asian tree Hovenia dulcis, also known as the oriental rubber tree, is allowing rodents to drink large amounts of alcohol, pass-out less, be less hungover, and even avoid addiction after weeks of non-stop drinking. No word yet on why they aren’t sending medicinal batches to every fraternity around the country.

“I think it’s really pretty incredible that one study opens up avenues for so many angles,” says neuroscientist A. Leslie Morrow of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. We agree.
